my watercolors are primarily done when traveling. before(most of the time) I actually travel I do several 8 x10" drawings of what I want to paint.Then I go to staples a nd make numerous copies that are reductions in size. I transfer those images to different precut pieces of watercolor paper and then begin to explore the different ways I see that image. the largest watercolors are 11 x14" and the smallest are 4 x 6" . Its easy to bring along with about 5-6 brushes and two watercolor sets. When I travel alone its great for rest periods or time alone at night.(I don't watch tv and trying to figure out what sort of art I'm gonna work on while traveling has always been a size issue until I hit on this .)
